Packaging Engineer (m/f/d)

Our partner company is a leading pan-European ecosystem for fashion and lifestyle e-commerce, dedicated to combining operational excellence with a circular mindset. For their Packaging Team in Berlin, we are looking for a Packaging Engineer, an expert to rethink both customer-facing and intralogistics packaging, protecting the product as well as the planet.

The position is set for a duration of one year, providing an intensive opportunity to leave a lasting footprint in a market-leading company.

Your Responsibilities

• You drive business growth by identifying sustainable packaging opportunities and presenting robust business cases to senior leadership for approval
• As a lead technical expert, you develop new unpacking experiences that balance warehouse efficiency, customer delight, and environmental impact
• You lead complex packaging development projects and communicate technical challenges clearly to stakeholders in Marketing, Logistics, and Category Management
• Collaborating with suppliers, universities, and start-ups allows you to identify emerging trends and high-impact partnership opportunities
• You actively shape the long‑term strategic roadmap for packaging innovation across the entire group
• Identifying and implementing solutions that generate cost savings and supply chain efficiencies remains a key part of your mission
• You act as an informal mentor within the team, providing technical guidance and sharing best practices on complex engineering challenges

Your Profile

• A degree in Packaging Engineering, Material Science, or Industrial Engineering forms the basis of your technical expertise
• You bring a proven track record of developing and launching physical packaging products or services within a logistics or supply chain context
• Experience in taking products from the initial ideation phase through production and final handover for scaling is essential for this role
• Your mindset is deeply design‑driven and customer‑centric, ideally supported by experience in user research and business case creation
• You are skilled at managing strategic relationships with suppliers at a senior level to align their capabilities with long‑term innovation goals
• Analytical thinking enables you to navigate trade‑offs between cost, customer experience, and sustainability effectively
• Excellent English communication skills allow you to navigate a diverse international environment, while German skills are an advantage
