Fraunhofer IPK in Berlin performs applied research and development across the full spectrum of industrial tasks – from product development through production processes to comprehensive company management.

In the Department of Production Technologies we develop, provide and adapt production and manufacturing technologies for innovative products. We build new machines and processing strategies on customer orders, optimise existing plants and realise future‑oriented tool concepts. Our core competencies include machining, fine processing, cleaning and blasting, additive manufacturing and manufacturing and machine measurement technology.

During the mandatory internship you can be assigned to various areas of production technologies. You support robot‑based processing and CNC machining, gaining industry‑near research experience. You work on current research and development projects, helping to develop new systems and procedures. You investigate state‑of‑the‑art technology, market conditions, identify potential suppliers, dimension required plant components and design them independently.

Weitere Aufgaben

Varied work ranging from production to design, FE simulation and programming
Working with industrial robots
Utilising cleaning and blasting processes in an industrial context
Planning, building and analysing experimental series
Assisting with current research and development projects
Researching relevant topics and summarising results

Was Sie mitbringen

Bachelor or master studies in mechanical engineering, production technology, industrial information technology, physical engineering sciences, or related fields
Strong teamwork and independent, responsible work
Self‑direction, goal focus and solution‑oriented approach
Advanced knowledge in manufacturing technology, design engineering and automation technology
Experience with CAD/CAM and industrial robots is desirable
Completed vocational training or experience in metalworking, machining, precision mechanics or tool construction is desirable
Hands‑on craftsmanship
Proficient use of MS Office applications
Secure written and spoken German and English

The weekly working time is 39 hours (full time).

The remuneration follows the German Federal guidelines for intern compensation.
