Our group at Ruhr-University Bochum is mostly concerned with the study of noncovalent interactions. In parallel, however, we also explore the chemistry of donor-substituted cyclopropenium (cyclopropanide) systems.

Your tasks:

The candidate (m/f/x) will design multi-step synthesis towards functionalized cyclopropanide systems. Targets will be characterized by NMR, other spectroscopic techniques, as well as CV and sXRD. A particular focus will be on diazo compounds and their follow-up reactions. More information can be found at DOI: /chem. .

Your profile:

• M.Sc. degree in chemistry (already granted or to be granted prior to the start of the position)
• Experience in multi-step organic syntheses and the characterization of reaction products
• Experience in the handling of air-sensitive compounds and reactions under inert-gas conditions
• Very good command of English, oral and written
• (Ideally) experience in the handling of diazo compounds
• (Ideally) experience in performing DFT calculations
• (Ideally) experience in X-ray crystallography or CV

Further information:

The position is salaried and based on the collective agreement of the Länder (TV-L). If the personal and collective agreement requirements are met, the employee will receive pay grade E13 TV-L.

The place of work is Ruhr University Bochum. The load of teaching will be calculated according to § 3 of Lehrverpflichtungsverordnung (state of North Rhine-Westphalia).
