Are you passionate about interdisciplinary research and eager to contribute to groundbreaking discoveries in the areas of biochemistry, structural biology, biophysics, cell biology, chemical biology and synthetic biology?
The IMPRS-LM unites scientists from diverse disciplines to tackle a fundamental question in biology: How do chemical components self-organize to give rise to living cells? By integrating traditional approaches—from structural and synthetic biology to cutting-edge computational modelling—our interdisciplinary team of molecular biologists, chemists and physicists explores the spatial and temporal dynamics of biochemical networks within the cellular environment.
The IMPRS-LM offers a unique, internationally recognized PhD training program designed to equip students with the interdisciplinary expertise needed to address complex challenges in cellular biology. Through a rigorous curriculum , hands‑on research in world‑class labs, and personalized mentorship , we empower students to become innovative, independent researchers ready to shape the future of science.
As a PhD student, you will benefit from:
We welcome applicants with a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Biology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, (Bio-)Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, or related fields.
The Max Planck Society is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace, providing equal opportunities to all employees, irrespective of gender, nationality, disabilities, religious or sexual orientation. We strongly encourage applications from underrepresented groups.
