Position Overview

The Chair Group of Production and Resource Economics at the TUM School of Management and the TUM School of Life Sciences offers a position as Ph.D. Student / Junior Researcher in Empirical Microeconomics / Applied Microeconomics. The initial appointment will be 2 years with possibility of extension. Salary is in accordance with the German State Regulated Public Salary Scale (starting at TV-L E13 2/3).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct cutting‑edge empirical research in productivity and efficiency measurement at various levels
  • Perform policy design and impact analysis
  • Analyse resource allocation, growth and welfare evaluation
  • Study technology diffusion and firm‑level innovation
  • Deliver internationally competitive Ph.D. work and peer‑reviewed publications
  • Possibly contribute to nationally and internationally funded projects, teaching at undergraduate/postgraduate level, funding acquisition, and global outreach.

Qualifications

  • Excellent or very good university degree in economics
  • Strong analytical and methodological skills focusing on quantitative data analysis (e.g., econometrics, statistics, machine learning)
  • High motivation, ability to work independently with a strong team orientation
  • Excellent spoken and written English and willingness to acquire a working language of German
