PhD Student (m/f/d) – fixed‑term, part‑time (29.87 hours/week = 75 %) at the Faculty of Psychology, Department of Biopsychology, SFB 1280, Ruhr University Bochum.

The SFB 1280 studies neural, behavioral, optogenetic, and clinical mechanisms of extinction learning. The project focuses on neural fundamentals of extinction learning in pigeons and will investigate the fronto‑striatal circuitry during an appetitive extinction‑learning task using in‑vivo neurophysiology, optogenetics, and behavioral analyses.
Techniques that will be relevant include MRI methods in pigeons and state‑of‑the‑art neural data analysis.
We are looking for a highly skilled and enthusiastic PhD student (completed master’s degree) with background in behavioral neurobiology and neural data science. A deep familiarity with ongoing SFB projects is appreciated. Candidates should be available immediately.
Legally required: This position is subject to the collective agreement of the Länder (TV‑L) and pays according to grade E 13, TV‑L.
