PhD/Master Intern on Single Cell Tumor Heterogeneity Analysis

(ref: -BAI)

NEC Laboratories Europe (NLE) is looking for a student currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or a related field.

The internship includes the following work items:

• Analyzing single cell and bulk sequencing data
• Statistical analyses of various aspects of a multi-omics dataset
• Visualization of data and results, presentation to and discussion with an international English-speaking team

NEC Laboratories in Heidelberg (Germany) provides an excellent working environment supporting individual creativity as well as strong teamwork. Our working language is English as our team is international.

Remote work from other places in Germany is possible but regular travel to Heidelberg is required.

Please note that it is not possible to use this internship as part of your thesis.

Required skills and experience

• Background in Bioinformatics, computational biology or comparable
• Solid Python programming skills and hands‑on experience with libraries like pandas, scikit and matplotlib/seaborn
• Solid knowledge of analyzing single cell sequencing data
• Solid knowledge of statistical analyses
• Basic knowledge of Linux and Git
• Team working spirit, self‑motivation, and good communication skills
• Motivation to learn

Preferred/optional skills and experience

• Knowledge of cancer and tumor heterogeneity
• Knowledge of population genetics
• Working with an international and interdisciplinary team on cutting‑edge biomedical research
• Opportunity to publish papers in top‑tier journals
