Postdoc (m/f/d) in Silviculture and Forest Ecology – 1.5‑year position at the Chair of Silviculture, University of Freiburg.

Responsibilities

• Analyse an existing database of forest inventories from IFM‑practicing enterprises across Europe.
• Summarise best practices and suggest silvicultural options for IFM advancement.
• Develop and teach educational modules on IFM for university and professional audiences.
• Contribute to related research projects on forest adaptation to global change.
• Collaborate with partner institutions and professional networks.

Candidate Profile

Strong background in forest ecology, silviculture, forest inventory, or related fields. Experience in research, publishing peer‑reviewed papers, and communicating results to a general audience.

Desirable: project management, stakeholder liaison, supervision of BSc/MSc students, teaching at university level, background in statistics, R, and analysis of large datasets.

Strong command of English; knowledge of German or willingness to learn is beneficial.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary according to the German standard for Postdocs (TV‑L E13, 100% scientist salary). Potential for future employment within the Cluster of Excellence Future Forests.
