Postdoctoral Fellow – Mechanism and Regulation of Transposition

Postdoctoral fellow position in the Barabas group at the Structural and Computational Biology Unit, EMBL, Heidelberg.

Research focus: Investigate the mechanism of transposon movement and host regulation using molecular and structural biology techniques, including X‑ray crystallography, NMR, EM, and FRET.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct independent research on transposon biology and host interactions.
• Apply structural biology, biochemical, and biophysical methods to study transposon mechanisms.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and support training of students.
• Present findings at group meetings and in scientific publications.

Qualifications:

• Ph.D. or equivalent in biochemistry, structural biology, or a related field.
• Strong background in molecular biology and experience with structural methods.
• Ability to work independently and in a collaborative research environment.
• Enthusiasm for emerging research on transposons.
