Principal / Lead Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview

Lead/Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role at STARK. This is a hands-on role requiring technical depth in Mechanical Design, with familiarity in military and commercial aviation certification environments—particularly as they apply to unmanned systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design on existing and future aerospace products
• Drive SolidWorks design efforts
• Execute tolerance stack-ups (mandatory)
• Contribute to FEA/DFM (optional but valuable)
• Hands-on daily with prototyping and builds

Qualifications

• Tolerance study expertise
• SolidWorks advanced use
• Strong physical prototyping ability
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 5+ years of experience in Mechanical design, preferably in aerospace, defence, or automotive sectors
• Familiarity with NATO STANAGs, MIL standards (e.g. MIL-STD-461, 704, 810), and relevant EASA/FAA UAS certification pathways (e.g. SC-Light UAS)
• Excellent technical communication and documentation skills
• Security clearance eligibility (or existing clearance) preferred
• Fluent in English; German or other languages beneficial
