Process Mining Engineer

We're building context/fab, a venture-backed industrial AI startup on a mission to upgrade manufacturing by solving the hardest data problems on the shop floor. As our first Process Mining Engineer, you'll architect and build the process intelligence layer that powers our platform — from automated process discovery to conformance checking to AI-driven process optimisation. This is a deeply technical, high-ownership role for someone who wants to improve and ship the core process mining systems behind a category-defining product.

What You'll Do

• Design and build our industrial process mining engine : event log extraction, process discovery algorithms, and conformance checking pipelines
• Hybrid Discovery : Develop automated models that bridge high-speed machine processes with human operator workflows
• Develop AI-enhanced variant analysis , bottleneck detection , anomaly detection , and predictive monitoring to optimise performance across shifts and facilities
• Build export and integration pipelines compatible with industry-standard formats ( BPMN 2.0 , XES , OCEL ) for downstream tools and customer workflows
• Work with real factory data — noisy timestamps, missing events, multiple granularities — and turn it into reliable process insights
• Collaborate closely with fullstack/infrastructure/edge teams to integrate process mining into production services

What Makes You a Great Fit

• Strong experience in Python and building production-grade data/AI systems
• Experience with process mining concepts: event logs, process discovery (Alpha Miner, Heuristics Miner, Inductive Miner), conformance checking, or performance analysis
• Familiarity with process mining tools or libraries ( PM4Py , Celonis, Signavio, or similar)
• Understanding of process modelling standards : BPMN 2.0, XES, OCEL 2.0, Petri nets
• Experience with time-series data , event correlation, and temporal pattern recognition
• Hands‑on experience with graph databases , knowledge graphs, or process model storage is a plus
• Comfort working with messy, heterogeneous real‑world datasets — irregular timestamps, incomplete traces, multi‑system event sources
• Understanding of distributed systems, data modelling, or ETL/ELT pipelines
• Experience with manufacturing systems (MES, SCADA, ERP) or industrial protocols is a significant plus
• Exposure to Go/Rust ecosystems is helpful
• Pragmatic: you care about shipped impact, not research for its own sake

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, AI/ML, Data Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Fluent in English; German is a plus
