Procurement Manager - Food (M/F/D)

Overview

We are partnering with a key international client in the food industry to recruit an experienced Procurement Manager - Food . This role is central to shaping and optimising the company's supply chain, ensuring the highest standards of quality, sustainability, and cost efficiency across all raw material and ingredient categories. Based in Hamburg, you will be responsible for developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-paced, global environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute procurement strategies for key food categories (ingredients, raw materials, packaging).
• Lead supplier negotiations, contract management, and annual bids.
• Analyse market trends, pricing developments, and supply risks to ensure continuity and competitiveness.
• Collaborate closely with Production, R&D, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to ensure alignment on specifications and standards.
• Drive sustainability initiatives and ensure compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements.
• Manage supplier performance through KPIs, audits, and regular business reviews.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and deliver on annual procurement targets.
• Support sourcing activities across Europe and contribute to global procurement projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Food Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in procurement within the food industry (ingredients, FMCG, or related sector).
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
• Excellent understanding of food supply markets, supplier landscapes, and quality standards.
• Fluent in English; German proficiency is a strong advantage.
• Hands-on mindset, analytical thinking, and strong stakeholder management capabilities.
• Ability to thrive in an international, matrix-driven environment.
