Production Engineer (Produktionsingenieur)

Role Summary

Purpose: To design, implement, and optimize highly automated production processes that integrate advanced AI systems while ensuring strict adherence to the 2026 EU AI Act and ESG targets.

Impact: This role directly influences the factory's carbon footprint, operational efficiency (OEE), and the legal compliance of automated decision‑making systems on the shop floor.

Team Structure: Member of the Smart Factory Engineering Team, collaborating with Data Scientists, Sustainability Officers, and Maintenance Technicians.

Reports To: Head of Production Technology.

Working Conditions: Travel Required – 15%. Standard business hours with occasional on‑call support for critical line restarts.

Position Overview

Production Engineers (Produktionsingenieure) optimize manufacturing processes, plant layouts, production planning, and quality control systems in German industrial facilities to improve efficiency, quality, and cost performance. They implement lean manufacturing principles, design production systems, manage tooling and process parameters, and work closely with quality, logistics, and maintenance teams. The role is foundational across the German manufacturing base, from automotive plants to pharmaceutical and chemical production.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to navigate factory floor environments safely for extended periods.
• Occasional lifting of prototype components up to 10kg.
