PROFESSIONAL PLATFORM & LINUX ENGINEER (m/f/d)

In this role, you will work alongside our platform team to ensure the reliable operation of our Linux and infrastructure platform for one of the largest e-commerce stores in the hygiene and medical products sector. Your focus will be on stability, performance, monitoring, and smooth platform operations. You will collaborate closely with development and DevOps teams to ensure our systems run in a scalable, reliable, and high-performance manner. In day-to-day operations, you’ll be a technical anchor, ensuring our platform runs stably and reliably.

Your Responsibilities

• Operation, administration, and further development of our Linux server and workplace environments (Mint, Debian, Rocky)
• Configuration management with Puppet and technical operation of central platform services such as GitLab and DNS
• Virtualization with Proxmox VE, including backup management
• Operation and further development of our monitoring system (Zabbix) as well as ensuring reliable backup strategies
• Conducting regular restore tests and providing support in incident, problem, and change management
• Operation and monitoring of Percona MySQL as well as analysis and optimization of the performance of business-critical databases (Shop / ERP / Marketplace)
• Administration of our network infrastructure (firewall, switches, routers, VPN) and support for central infrastructure services such as Zimbra
• Technical operation of selected business platforms (e.g., time tracking systems)
• Technical point of contact for defined platform and infrastructure components
• Ensuring the stability, security, and clear documentation of our systems in close coordination with the Tech Lead DevOps & Platform

What You Bring To The Table

• You are passionate about Linux and platform operations and enjoy running stable, high-performance production systems.
• Several years of experience in IT operations or platform operations
• Very good Linux skills (e.g., Debian, Rocky) as well as good knowledge of MySQL, ideally Percona
• Experience with monitoring, backup, and virtualization systems
• Solid understanding of networking (firewall, routing, switching, VPN)
• Experience in a production incident environment
• You work in a structured, responsible, and independent manner and keep a cool head even in operational situations.
• A strong hands‑on mentality and enjoyment of collaborating with development teams and other departments round out your profile.
