Overview
The Project Management Support Engineer will support the Department of Programme Preparation and Development (PRD) at EUMETSAT. The role ensures that programmes are delivered efficiently, in compliance with technical standards and in alignment with EUMETSAT’s strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
- Supporting project scheduling updates and critical path analysis by providing input to identified interfaces.
- Managing risk tracking, reporting, reviews, and mitigation closure.
- Contributing to the harmonised weekly salient by consolidating team inputs and producing a combined weekly activity report.
- Preparing monthly KPI inputs for Risk and Action Management, using Confluence.
- Preparing presentations and synthesized reports for and external purposes.
- Supporting Programme/Project Reviews through task inputs and management coordination.
- Contributing to the Action Management and regular check of the action status using JIRA.
- Tracking actions, analysing and reporting critical issues, and supporting timely closure.
- Participating in team management meetings and meetings with partner agencies, contractors and internal stakeholders.
- Maintaining core project management documentation in coordination with the project control team.
- Updating relevant management documentation, focusing on materials related to the acceptance process and associated deliveries.
- Contributing to subsystem development follow-up by monitoring deliverables to and from partner agencies and industry.
- Tracking progress against development plans, highlighting potential deviations, and proposing measures to minimise delays.
- Supporting baseline definition control, including evaluating Change Requests, Proposals and Requests for Waivers/Deviations.
Skills and Experience
Mandatory
- University degree in engineering, science or a related field.
- At least five years of experience in project management for large, complex development projects in aerospace or a comparable high‑technology domain.
- Structured, systematic approach to planning tasks and managing tight deadlines.
- Experience defining system interactions and implementing them in large projects.
- Knowledge of Quality Assurance procedures and processes.
- Knowledge of systems development lifecycle.
- Ability to synthesize information from various written or verbal inputs.
- Strong computer skills with experience using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.).
- Fluency in English, written and spoken.
Desirable
- Experience working on collaborative programmes involving multiple partner organisations.
- Certification in project management or related disciplines.
- Experience in space programme ground‑segment development and/or Earth‑observation systems development.
