Project Logistics Sales Manager: Hunt the "Hidden Champions"

I am partnering with a pure‑play Project Logistics forwarder who is looking for a true hunter to join their team.

Two years ago, my client was acquired by a major global shipping and transport group. What does that mean for you? It means they operate with the agility and flat hierarchies of a boutique specialist, but they have the deep pockets and internal financial muscle to finance massive projects without breaking a sweat.

Right now, they have an abundance of work (their operations team is incredibly busy!), and they need a heavy‑hitting Sales Manager to help them expand their footprint into new, untapped markets.

The Mission: Mid‑Market Focus

They aren’t looking for another BDM to chase the same massive, cutthroat tenders for Siemens, Linde, or ThyssenKrupp. They already know those accounts, and honestly, those margins are getting squeezed.

They want you to go after the "hidden champions"—mid‑sized companies across Machinery, Energy, Cement, Steel, Mining, and Renewables that have regular, interesting project volumes.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Opening new doors: This is a hunter role focused almost entirely on net‑new business. If you have a book of business and can bring across just 1 or 2 clients right out of the gate, we need to talk.
  • Selling real solutions: You’ll be quoting on everything from a few flatracks or a single piece of breakbulk to €1.5M heavy‑lift power plant projects heading to West Africa.
  • Leveraging niche routes: A good understanding of tricky destinations like Colombia, Senegal, and Libya will put you at the top of the pile.
  • Collaborating: You’ll work closely with their wider group, especially as they continue to push heavily into the Renewables and Machinery sectors.

The Setup & Vibe:

  • Locations: They are highly flexible. You can sit in Düsseldorf (their ideal choice, where their Heavy Lift operations are centralized with a team of 28), Bremen (focused more on Machinery and RoRo), or Hamburg (sharing an office with their parent company).
  • Flexibility: They offer 2 to 3 days of home office per week. While they prefer you to be part of the office culture, they are willing to be flexible for the right person.
  • Culture: Thanks to their parent company’s Baltic roots, the atmosphere is relaxed. They make decisions quickly, cut the red tape, and they don’t believe in unnecessary high‑pressure micromanagement.
  • Realistic Targets: Your goal for the first 12 months? Just cover your costs. They know building a project pipeline takes a minute.

The Package:

  • Base Salary: Up to €90,000 , but if you are the perfect fit with the right contacts, they will pay more.
  • Commission: Let’s keep this simple—they will beat whatever commission scheme you are currently on.
