Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £31,505 per annum / £17.31 per hour))

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

Job Role

The Property Inspector will conduct site inspections and issue the scope of works for the council’s housing stock in relation to all aspects of building maintenance. The Property Inspector will be responsible for preparing responses to elected members, tenants and customers and reporting on insurance claims.

The Post Holder Needs To Hold As a Minimum

  • Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) in a building trade at SCQF level 5 (SVQ level 2) or equivalent/other relevant qualifications/relevant site experience.
  • Hold a valid UK driving licence.

The Postholder Is Able To Demonstrate

  • Working with all main building trades.
  • A knowledge of social housing stock and the construction methods used in building them.
  • A good knowledge of building regulations.
  • Good knowledge of the regulations relating to asbestos.
  • Understanding of current Health and Safety issues and all current legislation and statutory procedures.
  • Knowledge of IT packages, including Microsoft Outlook, Teams and Word etc.
