Role

We are seeking an experienced Python Developer to support the migration of existing SAS-based data pipelines and analytical processes to a modern data stack using Python and dbt (Data Build Tool). This role involves translating business logic implemented in SAS into scalable, maintainable, and testable Python and SQL code, integrating with our cloud data warehouse (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift). You will collaborate closely with data engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition while maintaining data integrity, performance, and documentation throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse existing SAS scripts, macros, and workflows to understand data transformations, business logic, and dependencies.
• Re-engineer and migrate SAS data pipelines to Python and dbt, ensuring equivalent functionality and optimized performance.
• Develop reusable Python modules and dbt models aligned with software engineering best practices (e.g., version control, testing, CI/CD).
• Collaborate with data and analytics teams to validate results and ensure data consistency between old and new systems.
• Document migration steps, coding standards, and architectural decisions for ongoing maintainability.
• Optimize ETL/ELT processes for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Participate in code reviews and provide technical mentorship where applicable.

Qualifications Required

• 3+ years of professional experience in Python development for data processing and analytics.
• Understanding of SAS programming and experience interpreting or maintaining SAS code.
• Hands-on experience with dbt (developing models, tests, and documentation).
• Proficiency with SQL and relational databases.
• Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
