Python Engineer (AI / Web Infra)

Role Requirement

We are seeking a highly motivated Python Engineer who thrives in high-velocity environments, ships end-to-end features, and is fluent in AI-assisted development tools. You'll own both ends of the stack - designing backend APIs that process data from hundreds of thousands of contributors, building React interfaces that internal teams and clients actually use and solving problems without waiting for someone to tell you what to do. You move fast without cutting corners, communicate proactively, and take full ownership of your work. You're intellectually honest, low ego but high standards, and have built things you're proud of - side projects, open source, internal tools - simply because you couldn't help it.

Note: This is not a 9-to-5 job - if you want predictable schedules, this isn't the role for you.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage FastAPI backend services that drive the company's data collection and distribution pipelines. Build APIs for internal tools, contributor-facing interfaces, and client integrations, ensuring reliability, high performance, and clear documentation.
• Create, review, and optimize SQL queries for accuracy and speed on large-scale datasets. Improve PostgreSQL performance through indexing, query plan optimization, partitioning, and connection pooling, while designing schemas that scale efficiently with the growing contributor network and project load.
• Develop and enhance React interfaces for contributors, internal operations, and client dashboards. Transform complex data processes into intuitive, high-performance UIs that remain responsive across platforms.
• Create and manage background processing systems for handling audio, image, and video files at scale, ensuring reliability, monitoring, and smooth asynchronous workflows.
• Collaborate with ML engineers, DevOps, and data teams to deliver fully integrated features. Take part in architecture discussions and sprint planning, while building internal tools that boost overall team productivity.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience building Python + FastAPI backends in production
• Solid experience with React and TypeScript, including modern component architecture
• Proven ability to design and optimize PostgreSQL databases and queries
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Helm, and AWS infrastructure
• Knowledge of object storage systems compatible with S3, experience with containerization technologies like Docker, and an understanding of REST API design principles
• Background task processing experience (Celery, RQ, SQS, or similar)
• Demonstrated proficiency with AI-assisted development tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, etc.) and using them to accelerate delivery
• Track record of shipping end-to-end products, side projects, open-source contributions, or startup experience
• Comfortable working independently under tight deadlines and making architectural decisions

Bonus Skills

• Experience with Web3, AI/ML pipelines, or data-intensive platforms
• UI/UX sensibilities for frontend work, dashboards, and performance optimization
