Position: Radiocarbon Laboratory Engineer (m/f/d)
Location: Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry (MPI-BGC), Jena
The MPI for Biogeochemistry seeks an engineer to support the institute’s 14 C lab facility, which supports radiocarbon measurements in biogeochemistry and carbon cycle research. The facility is equipped with an IonPlus Micadas accelerator mass spectrometer system with a hybrid ion source that allows for the measurement of graphite targets as well as CO2 gas inlet operation for very small samples. It also has a laboratory for preparation, CO2 purification, and graphitization of samples, with automation involved in several processes.
The full‑time position is to be filled as soon as possible. Part‑time work is generally possible. The position will be evaluated and graded following the collective agreement according to TVöD Bund; in addition, a pension plan based on the public service (VBL) will be provided.
