Information about the position

As our new Staff Engineer for Service Capabilities, you will be part of a group of platform‑oriented Staff Engineers, who are focused on setting and guiding the delivery of the technical strategy of the Vinted backend platform. You will work alongside other Platform Staff Engineers ranging from Frontends to Quality Assurance to Infrastructure, reporting to the Senior Staff Engineer of Marketplace Platforms, where you will have the opportunity to own, shape, and guide the technical direction of the Marketplace Service Ecosystem.

In this position, you’ll

• Own the vision for technologies that enable a distributed service architecture.
• Own the technical strategy initiative roadmap.
• Set the standards for building and connecting services in Vinted Marketplace.
• Lead improvements and innovations in engineering practices while acting as a force multiplier.
• Collaborate deeply with platform teams and other staff engineers to unblock the delivery of the technical initiatives.
• Represent the Service Capabilities technological area within the Staff/Principal Engineer layer.
• Interface with Production Engineering, Engineering Experience and other domains that provide infrastructure, platforms, and tooling for Vinted Marketplace.
• Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with technical expertise.

About you

• Extensive prior experience as an architect or a staff engineer, having delivered cross‑team technical initiatives in organizations of scale.
• Deep understanding of enterprise architecture patterns and their effects on systems and engineering organizations.
• Hands‑on experience with distributed systems including asynchronous communication, message brokers, eventual consistency.
• Deeply familiar with the entire lifecycle of software systems at scale, from development and deployment to maintenance and deprecation.
• Demonstrable expertise in designing and implementing effective technical strategies.
• Ability to delegate refinement and implementation of the technical initiatives to engineers in your organization.
• Sharp communication skills and an ability to discuss complex topics in detail, while building relationships, alignment and consensus across functions and departments.

We’ll provide you with a competitive salary package blended with an award‑winning employee‑ownership fund. Compensation for senior staff engineers in Portugal and Czech Republic ranges from €70,000–€155,000 gross per year, while compensation for senior employees in Germany and the UK ranges from €100,000–€200,000 gross per year.

Salary range

€ 115,600 – € 156,400 gross per year.
