About the Role

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will leverage your strong foundation in physics, mathematics and materials science to process and resolve mechanical problems, design and implement custom mechanical tooling and associated processes, and enable the handling, assembly and disassembly of parts, components, sub‑assemblies and final assemblies throughout the product life cycle. You will be responsible for designing, developing and modifying mechanical engineering layouts, schematics and specifications, overseeing manufacturing and installation processes to ensure adherence to industry standards and regulations, and coordinating the procurement and assembly of mechanical components and equipment for design projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design projects from concept through to product release.
  • Develop designs optimized for manufacturability and cost efficiency.
  • Apply advanced GD&T principles and perform tolerance stack analyses.
  • Collaborate closely with vendors and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility, quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using CAD tools.
  • Support prototype development and testing, incorporating feedback into design iterations.
  • Participate in design reviews and cross‑functional team meetings.
  • Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with engineering standards.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of combined practical and theoretical experience in mechanical design and manufacturing.
  • Strong expertise in precision machining and familiarity with a wide range of manufacturing processes, including turning, milling, welding, electro‑erosion and polishing.
  • Proven experience in design for manufacturability and cost optimization.
  • Excellent knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance stack‑up.
  • Hands‑on experience in high‑tech manufacturing environments, preferably involving precision mechanics and diverse materials.
  • Demonstrated success in vendor collaboration and project completion to product release.
  • Fluent in English, with good proficiency in German.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with PLM systems and engineering change processes.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards and quality systems.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
