Research Assistant
The position offered is limited to a period of 3 years . Payment will be made according to pay group 13 TV‑L Wissenschaft.
We are seeking a candidate with expertise in mineralogy and geochemistry for an interdisciplinary Georesearch for sustainability (GEO:N) project “LangRes” to study long‑term transport processes linked to deep geothermal reservoirs. This BMFTR‑funded project will be carried out in cooperation between the Universities of Greifswald, Freiberg, Jena, Tübingen as well as the Helmholtz‑Zentrums Dresden‑Rossendorf (HZDR) Leipzig and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). This subproject conducted at the University of Greifswald will develop synthetic sandstone analogues using mineral materials and compare these with natural systems to constrain coupled processes linked to reservoir productivity. The research will also study three‑dimensional (3D) pore networks and pore‑filling minerals. The candidate is expected to gain expertise in advanced electron microscopy (SEM, FIB‑SEM, TEM) as well as standard petrophysical methods. The candidate will also work closely with the five other research assistants located around Germany and will have the opportunity to complete a doctoral thesis.
