The Institute of Photonics (IOP) welcomes applications for the following position starting at the earliest possible date: Research Assistant (PhD position) – Photonic quantum systems (Salary Scale 13 TV-L, 75 %)
The position is limited for 3 years.
Your role
This project focuses on the design and fabrication of integrated photonic quantum systems for applications in quantum sensing. The project includes the exploration of novel optical manipulation schemes in integrated devices.
This project involves pure physical phenomenal studies paired with application-oriented quantum networking solutions. Specifically, the applicant must be interested in developing theoretical and experimental solutions for on-chip quantum-enhanced sensing applications.
Who are we looking for?
Applicants to the position must have a relevant scientific university degree (Diploma or Master), for example in physics, optical technologies, photonics and optics, electrical engineering. The ideal candidate has a strong background in optics and photonics and quantum mechanics. Knowledge in quantum information science is desirable. The candidate should be interested in working in photonics lab and have the ability and willingness to work together with experts from a broad background in science and technology. In addition, very good communication skills in English, oral as well as written, are expected.
