Role Description

As a Research Associate at the L3S Research Center, you will independently develop and investigate advanced machine learning and generative AI methods for interdisciplinary applications spanning domains such as production, medicine, and the public sector. You will collaborate closely with researchers from diverse scientific and technical fields, as well as regional industry and public organizations, to translate AI concepts into impactful real‑world solutions. The role includes contributing to funded research projects, driving your own scientific ideas, and publishing results at leading international conferences and in peer‑reviewed journals, while working within a highly collaborative, innovative research environment that supports your progression toward a PhD.

Qualifications

• Completed scientific university degree (Master’s or Diploma) in computer science
• Strong foundational knowledge in artificial intelligence, ideally across multiple subfields
• Ability to work independently on research questions and development tasks
• Willingness and capability to collaborate with experts from diverse scientific and technical disciplines, as well as industry and public‑sector partners
• Strong interest in publishing at international conferences and in scientific journals
• Excellent German and English communication skills, both written and spoken
• Motivation to pursue a PhD within the scope of the position
