Overview

ACPS conducts research on novel methods, protocols, and computer algorithms for low‑ and zero‑power wireless communication and energy management for regeneratively powered and intermittent devices. The position focuses on devising new hardware‑/software concepts for reliable intermittent computing for AI‑enabled devices, particularly in structural health‑monitoring, passive analog backscatter communication, and sensing.

Responsibilities

  • Research on execution models, analog backscatter communication and sensing, and AI techniques for intermittent devices.
  • Design and implementation of embedded software and hardware for lab and real‑world experiments.
  • Planning, execution, and evaluation of scientific real‑world experiments.
  • Writing scientific papers and presenting results at conferences and other scientific events.
  • Engagement in related teaching activities within the institute’s modules.

Qualifications

Requirements :

  • Completed scientific university studies, especially in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.

Desired knowledge and personal skills:

  • Profound knowledge in wireless communication and networking, ideally backscatter.
  • Advanced expertise in (embedded) real‑time operating systems, task scheduling, execution models, etc.
  • Knowledge in concepts of artificial intelligence and/or machine learning (beneficial).
  • Advanced experience in embedded systems including microcontroller programming in C/C++.
  • Basic understanding of electronic circuits and ICs, experience in (analog) circuit design (beneficial).
