The position is a fixed-term 2-year position with a possible extension afterwards. The workplace is at the Campus of Mechanical Engineering in Garbsen.
The Opportunity
We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research position in Biomedical Engineering with the perspective to build and lead your own research group at the Institute of Mechatronic Systems (IMES) , Leibniz University Hannover.
This position offers the opportunity to independently shape research directions and actively contribute to a collaborative institute culture, while developing technologies that support patients and medical professionals in diagnosis and therapy.
About the Research Group
The Biomedical Engineering group focuses on the development of mechatronic, robotic, and AI-assisted systems for medical applications, with an emphasis on engineering-driven innovation.

This position is not aimed at medical data science or medical image analysis profiles. We explicitly seek candidates with an engineering and systems-oriented background.
Your Role as a Postdoc
You will mentor and advise a compact team of PhD candidates, each at different stages of their doctoral research. Your role combines scientific leadership, mentoring, and strategic development, with substantial freedom to shape how the group evolves.
