Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality and Occupational Health & Safety Manager – EMEA to join our regional team. Our preferable candidate has previous experience as responsible specialist for shaping and executing the company’s quality and health & safety strategy across a diverse and complex regional landscape. Acting as the primary liaison for EMEA top management, this position ensures that all operations meet the highest standards of quality and safety while complying with international norms and local regulations.

The role involves defining and implementing robust QHSE policies, developing a comprehensive Quality Management System, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

In addition to strategic planning, the manager will oversee the deployment of health and safety programs that safeguard employees and contractors, conduct risk assessments, and implement preventive measures to minimize hazards. The position requires strong leadership to manage and mentor a team of eight professionals distributed across multiple countries, fostering collaboration and a culture of accountability.

The manager will also serve as a key advisor to senior leadership, providing insights, reports, and recommendations that influence business decisions. While the scope covers the entire EMEA region, the role demands a special focus on German operations, ensuring compliance with national legislation and supporting local teams in achieving best‑in‑class standards.

This is a highly visible role that combines strategic vision with hands‑on execution, requiring exceptional communication skills, deep knowledge of ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001), and the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments across multiple jurisdictions.

Your Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Define and implement QHSE policies and strategies across the EMEA region, aligned with Fluence corporate objectives.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for EMEA top management on all quality and safety matters.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001).
  • Ensure adherence to local regulations and international standards for quality and occupational health & safety.
  • Lead risk assessments, hazard identification, and implementation of preventive measures.
  • Oversee incident investigation and root cause analysis, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage and mentor a team of eight QHSE professionals across multiple countries, fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs) for quality and safety to senior leadership.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring timely closure of findings.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on quality and safety for employees (on LMS platform).
  • Establish and maintain emergency response plans and ensure readiness across all sites.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate QHSE requirements into projects and operations.
  • Maintain a special focus on German operations, ensuring compliance with national legislation and supporting local teams.
  • Represent the company in regulatory inspections, customer audits, and industry forums as needed.
  • Periodic visits to Fluence’s project sites, offices and client’s events.

Your Profile

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field such as engineering, Health and Safety management, or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience in Health and Safety control or assurance roles within manufacturing, engineering, or a related industry (minimum 10 years). Experience with Health and Safety management systems (QMS) and Health and Safety control methodologies is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of Health and Safety control techniques, tools, and methodologies, including statistical process control (SPC), root cause analysis, and problem‑solving techniques.
  • Lead auditor ISO 45001 and ISO 9001.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit (SiFa) – Certified Safety Specialist for Germany.
  • NEBOSH National (or International) Diploma.
  • Fluent in English and German language. Other European languages are a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Possess a valid residency in European Union.
  • Possess a valid driving license.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work independently and carefully.
  • Availability to travel 30% of the time in Germany and adjacent countries (Belgium, Luxemburg, Netherland, Poland, UK).
