SAP/IT Project Manager – Finance Systems (Operational Focus) required by Whitehall Resources for a 1 year extendable project assignment for our client based in Germany.

About the Role

We are seeking a practical, hands-on SAP Project Manager for our clients Finance Systems practice. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys managing multiple smaller projects rather than a single large programme, working closely with business and technical teams, and staying involved in the day-to-day functional delivery.

This is an operational project manager role, focused on execution and delivery rather than strategic planning or high-level business transformation. You will take ownership of projects, drive milestones, and ensure successful delivery of SAP/IT initiatives within Finance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver multiple small-to-medium SAP/IT projects in parallel, ensuring milestones are met and projects are delivered successfully.
• Work independently with minimal supervision, managing schedules, progress tracking, risks, and day-to-day issues.
• Stay hands-on where needed, supporting functional analysis, solution discussions, testing, and issue resolution.
• Collaborate closely with business and technical teams across Finance, BRIM/FI-CA, Treasury, and related areas.
• Provide regular project reporting to stakeholders and project sponsors.
• Follow the client’s Finance Systems project methodology and SAP project management best practices.
• Projects may include FICO/BRIM/FI-CA implementations, system enhancements, SAP Treasury, BASIS projects, or Analytics projects aswell as Non-SAP Implementations across other areas such as Anaplan
• Maintain functional knowledge of SAP to support delivery, particularly in FICO, SD, and BRIM/FI-CA modules.
• Primarily remote work (CET time zone) with occasional onsite presence in Berlin.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5–6 years’ experience in SAP and IT project management, ideally starting as a functional consultant.
• Strong functional experience in SAP Finance (FICO), SAP BRIM/FI-CA, or SAP Treasury.
• Proven ability to manage multiple smaller projects simultaneously, focusing on operational delivery rather than strategic planning.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organisational skills.
• Hands-on, proactive, and flexible, able to manage practical project challenges.
• Solid understanding of SAP project methodologies and best practices.

Highly Beneficial

• Experience with financial planning tools (e.g., Anaplan).
• Exposure to S/4HANA projects or transformation programmes (operational execution experience preferred).
