Responsibilities

• Consult with staff, families, and community partners on student behavioral and psychological issues.
• Collaborate with school staff to develop and implement interventions for struggling students.
• Implement school-wide prevention programs that promote a positive and safe school climate.
• Provide individual and group counseling on academic, social, and behavioral skills.
• Conduct psychological assessments to evaluate student needs and recommend interventions.
• Advise student assistance teams to develop accommodation and intervention plans.
• Lead professional development activities on child development, learning, and behavior management.

Conditions of Employment

• Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre‑Employment Certification Statement for the Selective Service Requirement.
• Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Direct deposit of pay is required.
• A two‑year trial period may be required.
• Appointment is subject to suitability/fitness determination based on a background investigation.
• Tier 1 investigation with Childcare Checks is required due to interaction with children under 18 years.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen.
• Minimum educational preparation:
  • Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution, with at least 40 semester hours in general education subjects (English, history, social studies, mathematics, fine arts, languages, science, philosophy, psychology).
  • At least 18 semester hours of professional teacher education coursework in learning processes, assessment, educational philosophy, psychology, social foundations, methods of teaching, and curriculum.
  • For school psychologist positions:
    • Master’s degree in school psychology (or equivalent graduate coursework including foundations of special education and disabilities).
    • Minimum of 1,200 internship hours, or current National Certification in School Psychology (NCSP).
