We are looking for a researcher who thrives on both conceptual questions and experimental work in the laboratory. The role focuses on the optimization and further development of components for high‑power fiber lasers. The successful candidate will work on fiber preforms using MCVD technology, as well as gas‑phase or solution‑doping techniques for active fibers in the spectral range above 1.9 µm (thulium and holmium doping). This position is part of the Laser Technology (LAS) department, which develops and evaluates specific photonic materials and components and optimizes laser systems in the NIR, SWIR, MWIR and LWIR ranges.
The employment is on a fixed‑term 2‑year contract with the possibility of prolongation or transformation into an unlimited employment. The weekly working time is 39 hours, and the position is also available on a part‑time basis.
We value diversity and welcome all applications regardless of age, gender, nationality, ethnicity, religion, ideology, disability, sexual orientation and identity. Severely disabled persons are given preference in the event of equal suitability. For applicants with disabilities, we work together to find solutions that best promote their abilities. Appointment, remuneration and social security benefits are based on the public‑sector collective wage agreement (TVöD). Fraunhofer may grant performance‑based variable remuneration components.
