Senior Analog IC Designer – High speed optical

My client is a leading technology company specialising in silicon photonics-based interconnect solutions. Their innovative semiconductor chips are designed for next-generation data centres, utilising in-house Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) and Electronic Integrated Circuit (EIC) design capabilities. They collaborate with large-volume CMOS foundries as manufacturing partners to deliver state-of-the-art products. This role can be hybrid or remote within Germany.

They are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Analog IC Design Engineer to join their dynamic and international team. In this role, you will contribute to the design and development of cutting-edge electro-optical transceiver chips , working closely with a team of experts to achieve groundbreaking advancements in the field.

Responsibilities

• Design Analog Circuits in BiCMOS, specifically TIA and laser drivers, and some of the following: OpAmps, Regulators, PVT independent biasing, high-speed circuits, control loops including nested loops (DC offset cancellation, Receive Signal Strength Indicator, Loss of Modulation, Loss of Signal, Squelch, AGC), analog based digital gates, analog muxes and be able to build a chip-level schematic hierarchy in Cadence environment
• Design of auxiliary circuits to interface analog ICs with I2C or SPI type digital control interfaces (using IP-blocks eg. ADC)
• Design I/O interfaces with ESD protection
• Develop IC pad frame (pad layout) for various technologies such as die bonding, flip-chip, micro-bump
• Run regression simulation and meet specs
• Leverage your familiarity with layout techniques for device matching, current density and low parasitics. Check LVS/DRC of your circuits
• Develop Product Specs and block level specs for your circuits by interfacing with marketing
• Support IC Design verification methodology to meet spec compliance matrix
• Interface with foundry and make sure PDK updates are all up to date
• Develop testing strategy for your circuits and sync up with test team
• Support IC to qualification and production. Support Customer request for technical support
• Interface with Cadence and other Vendors to make sure tools are functional and monitor possible upcoming license issues

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• 5+ years of industry experience in integrated circuit design in CMOS or ideally BiCMOS in Bandgap, Current Bias, Current references, Operational Amplifiers, Voltage Regulators, Comparators, Control loops like Automatic Gain Control.
• Extensive experience with EIC design tools, particularly the Cadence Virtuoso and proven experience in developing actual products
• In-depth knowledge of chip-level electronic design flows for Design for Manufacturability (DFM) with a strong commitment to product quality and reliability
• Proactive problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, dynamic environment
