Senior Bid Manager (f/m/d) – Grid Solutions - FACTS

This position will manage the tender processes for the Flexible AC Transmission (FACTS) projects related to Grid Solutions.

To undertake the role of Senior Bid Manager (f/m/d), you will manage the Tender Preparation process for assigned proposals to secure quality orders for projects within global markets.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Manage the complete bid process for assigned proposals to secure quality orders for projects within the Global market, supporting the Technical Sales Manager / Business Development teams in preparing pre-qualification documentation and request for information submissions and completing tender processes as required
  • Review of invitation to tender and specifications to determine customer’s requirements and understand the project drivers for all opportunities, distributing and coordinating across all departments and stakeholders, preparing proposal documentation, and formulating a winning bid strategy considering overall business targets/strategy.
  • Liaise closely with Engineering, Procurement, Contractual, Project Management, and Commercial functions in managing external supplier/subcontractor inquiries; attend customer clarification meetings/presentations and undertake site visits where necessary to ensure scope is fully clarified and understood
  • Receive, review, and clarify all internal and external supplier/subcontractor inputs to ensure consistency with the tender requirements and that all interfaces are coordinated
  • Produce the tender price calculation using approved Calculation Tools to reflect internal cost estimates, supplier/subcontractor prices, and margins/recoveries in line with business targets. Ensure risk assessment is thoroughly evaluated and mitigated within the tender proposals. Ensure cash flow/EVA is accurately modeled and appropriate payment terms are proposed to maximize returns. Ensure that the cost estimate is realistic, robust, and competitive
  • Prepare tender approval pack including Calculation Sheet, Cashflow, Limits of Authorization, Procurement Schedule, and Risk Register and obtain management approval under current signature protocols and bid release requirements. Prepare and compile proposal documentation, ensuring that the proposal submission is of high quality and compliant with customer requirements/instructions

What You Bring

  • University degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Long-standing experience in project or tender management, or as a core project team member
  • Experience in EPC transmission projects within the energy sector; substations or FACTS knowledge
  • Reporting and presenting to executive management; managing customer relationships
  • Leading cross-functional, international activities and building strong internal relationships across departments
  • Strong technical leadership skills, solid knowledge of technical, commercial, and contractual project management, including scope, time, costs, resources, and contract topics; excellent English written and verbal skills, good German skills preferable
