Merchant Solutions Technology

The Merchant Solutions Technology group provides the Corporate Bank with a dedicated team that capitalizes on the rapidly evolving technology industry to provide our clients new products and innovation to meet their growing needs within an Agile FinTech‑like setup. We deliver innovative products such as API‑based solutions allowing marketplaces and merchants to streamline their payment processing and settlement activities.

Senior Cloud Data Engineer (f/m/x)

As part of our new data team at the Berlin Tech Hub you will work closely with our business stakeholders and product managers in an agile environment to address business intelligence needs in the areas of anti‑financial crime, risk management and product development for Merchant Solutions.

You will be responsible for end‑to‑end delivery of data solutions to accomplish our business goals.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver within the cross‑functional team a scalable and reliable cloud‑based data solution enabling Deutsche Bank Merchant Solutions transaction monitoring, regulatory reporting and data analytics capabilities.
• Develop and enhance internal data collection and data management processes, ensuring accuracy and reliability and resolving data quality issues.
• Evaluate and introduce modern tools, technologies, and engineering practices that improve the performance, reliability, and usability of the data platform.
• Work closely with business stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs) to define the target data model and proper data sources to solve real business problems.
• Provide hands‑on technical guidance, mentorship and support to other team members on data warehouse and data analytics platform.

Your Skills And Experiences

• Strong hands‑on experience in data engineering and data management via SQL, including building scalable data pipelines in Java and/or Python, as well as using data pipeline tools (Apache Spark, Apache Beam, Apache Airflow, etc.).
• Experience working with cloud platforms, ideally Google Cloud Platform, including BigQuery, Dataflow (Beam), Pub/Sub, Cloud Run/Cloud Functions, and Cloud Composer.
• Practical knowledge of data modelling for OLTP and OLAP purposes and working with a range of data storage technologies.
• Experience owning and optimizing data infrastructure using a DevOps approach, including Terraform and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar).
• Familiarity with business intelligence and reporting tools such as Tableau or Looker Studio.
