Senior Construction Procurement Specialist (m/w/d) - Gigafactory Berlin - Brandenburg

What To Expect

The Construction Procurement department is looking for an experienced Senior Construction Procurement Specialist to procure MEP construction works and source long‑lead equipment for Tesla's Gigafactory in Berlin. This person should have extensive knowledge of local and international construction suppliers and contractors, as well as experience with MEP construction works and negotiating contracts. A successful candidate will enjoy working in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment.

What You'll Do

• Develop sourcing strategies for assigned scopes and commodities.
• Build strong cooperation with internal stakeholders across facilities, construction, equipment, and material procurement.
• Pre‑qualify suppliers and contractors by evaluating financial stability, insurance coverage, and relevant project experience.
• Issue RFx (RFQ, RFB, RFP) for assigned services and commodities.
• Implement global, regional, or local framework agreements to reduce risk and consolidate spend.
• Analyze and clarify bid packages, perform detailed comparisons, and present award recommendations ensuring full scope alignment.
• Lead bid leveling sessions and identify commercial cost reduction opportunities.
• Review change order proposals and recommend approval or rejection.
• Actively participate in contract negotiations.
• Drive commodity planning, cost savings initiatives, and competitive price agreements.
• Analyze historical and forecast spend, savings, and performance by project and commodity.
• Serve as the primary commercial point of contact while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
• Ensure all purchased commodities and services comply with Tesla’s global procurement policy.
• Coordinate purchase orders and support Work Authorizations in collaboration with Construction and Engineering teams.
• Develop biddable work packages, validate contractor bids against cost and schedule estimates, and create Statements of Work.
• Support formal acceptance, account reconciliation for contract closeout, claims, and settlements.
• Conduct site walks with contractors and lead supplier onboarding sessions for major awards.
• Track Design Change Requests (DCRs) from development through completion.
• Regularly align with the Technical Service team on new systems and potential maintenance contracts.
• Proactively engage with all project stakeholders, including Engineering, Construction, Legal, Commissioning, Manufacturing, and Technical Services.
• Actively propose Value Engineering solutions to optimize scope and cost.

What You'll Bring

• At least 5 years’ experience in construction‑related Purchasing or Construction Management, and experience with General Contractors and construction drawings for the manufacturing industry.
• MS or BS in Electrical/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or other with evidence of exceptional experience.
• Additional experience in project Controls or construction management preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail skills and ability to multitask; analytical and judgment skills. Advanced Excel skills preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to identify business process issues and drive process improvement.
• Open‑minded self‑starter with the ability to adapt, improvise and problem solve.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Bluebeam and/or Acrobat.
• Bilingual candidate: English, and minimum B1 level of German language.
