Senior Contract Manager (m/f/d)

Aufgaben

As Senior Contract Manager you will provide contract and claim management support during the Bid Management Phase. During the project Execution Period, you will monitor the project from a contractual point of view, manage the contractual change process, evaluate deviations from the contractual baseline, execute claim prevention measures, trigger and lead the claim management process and generally support the project execution team.

In this role you will be an integral part of the Project Management Team.

Bid preparation phase

  • Reviewing contract terms and conditions regarding change and claim procedures, collaboration, communication, time schedule and client obligations.
  • Recommending strategies and set‑ups to manage contractual risks and opportunities as well as checking consistency of the contract and its annexes.
  • Providing contract and claim management support to the proposal management.
  • Contributing best practices and lessons learned with regard to contract and claim management.

Contract execution phase (from kick‑off to project close‑out)

  • Analyzing contracts and evaluating contractual risks and opportunities.
  • Reviewing and commenting on subcontractor and supplier terms and conditions under consideration of risk mitigation and claim potential.
  • Fostering a common understanding and awareness of contractual contents and requirements within the project team.
  • Monitoring contractual obligations and managing changes to the contract.
  • Developing solutions for contractual risks.
  • Identifying claim potentials and external deviations.
  • Triggering and leading the change order and claim management processes.
  • Documenting change or claim relevant events and analyzing contractual impact and claim potential.
  • Reviewing and preparing contractual correspondence related to contractual change and claim events or potential claims.
  • Ensuring transparent reporting of claims and contract changes.
  • Supporting the close‑out process.

Profil

  • A degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Quantity Surveying, ideally complemented by knowledge in Construction Law or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Contract & Claims Management for turnkey industrial plants (EPC), preferably in the chemical plant sector.
  • Proven ability to work in cross‑disciplinary environments on global projects.
  • Strong communication skills combined with a structured, systematic approach and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Enjoyment in coordinating activities within multinational teams, paired with excellent analytical skills, negotiation expertise, and conflict resolution capabilities.
  • A proactive, independent working style and willingness to travel internationally (including multi‑month assignments).
  • Excellent English skills, enabling you to prepare high‑quality reports and correspondence.
