(Senior) Corporate Development Manager - Region Americas (f/m/d)

The Corporate Development Manager Region Americas partners with senior leadership to originate, evaluate and implement strategic initiatives, improvement projects and M&A activity that advance Region Americas' P&L objectives. The role requires frequent travel across the Region Americas, esp. USA. The role is preferably based in Pittsburgh, USA via direct employment in the US or via delegation. Remote work out of another SMS location with significant travel to the US is also an option.

Lead and manage cross-functional strategic projects from discovery through implementation: define scope, develop project plans, assign resources, track milestones and ensure on-time delivery of agreed outcomes.

  • Produce high-quality business cases and executive materials: synthesize market, financial and operational analysis into concise presentations and decision memos for senior leadership.
  • Facilitate workshops and executive meetings: set agendas, drive productive discussions, document decisions and monitor follow-up actions to ensure execution.
  • Perform quantitative analysis and scenario modelling to evaluate strategic options, investment opportunities and improvement initiatives using internal and external data sources.
  • Support M&A and strategic transactions: screen targets, build financial models, prepare valuation and diligence materials, coordinate external advisors and package recommendations for approval.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Region Americas leaders and corporate functions (Finance, Legal, HR, Operations) to align priorities and enable implementation.
  • Travel to SMS group sites, customer locations and external meetings as required.

  • Bachelor's degree in business management or a related field. Master's/MBA agree preferred but not required.
  • Minimum 3-6 years of relevant experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, corporate development, or a transformation office.
  • Engineering industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven project management and facilitation skills: ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver outcomes without direct authority.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills; ability to create concise executive-level materials and present recommendations persuasively.
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical skills: financial modelling, valuation methods, business case development and quantitative problem solving.
  • Prior experience with merger and acquisitions is preferred (deal execution or integration).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; proficiency in PowerPoint. Familiarity with Power BI or similar analytics tools is a plus.
  • English fluency required; additionally German language skills preferred.
