The Role

As the Senior Employment Counsel for Germany, you will partner with our Finance, Strategy, & Legal team to investigate problems, define solutions, and guide decisions as Personio’s co‑pilots. The role requires 3 days per week in the office and is based in Munich or Berlin.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide practical, commercial‑risk based employment advice to the People team and business leaders on the full life‑cycle of an employee, employment compliance, and litigation.
  • Pro‑actively identify ways to optimise processes for scalability and efficiency and contribute to Personio’s employment strategy and roadmap.
  • Keep up to date on changes in German and DACH employment legislation and advise stakeholders on implications.
  • Support the Senior Lead Employment Counsel on wide‑scale initiatives, including regulatory projects such as the Pay Transparency Directive and compliance reporting.
  • Manage relationships and budgets with external lawyers to deliver cost‑effective solutions.
  • Lead and support Personio’s international expansion by conducting due diligence on employment‑related legal requirements in Germany and beyond, and on M&A transactions.

Role Requirements

  • Qualified lawyer in Germany with 4‑6 years of relevant employment‑law experience in‑house or at a top law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of German employment laws and litigation processes.
  • Fluency in German and English, with the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly and concisely.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Self‑starter capable of working in a fast‑paced hyper‑growth environment with minimal supervision, yet able to use good judgment and raise issues when necessary.
  • Flexibility and teamwork, with a willingness to learn and support international employment matters and projects.
  • Ability to juggle multiple matters with competing stakeholder demands.
  • Prior experience in the tech industry and/or with global employment matters is preferred.
