Job Title: Senior Credit Analyst (German-Speaking) – Oil Trading Markets

About the Company

Our client is a leading global player in the energy trading sector, with a strong presence across European and international oil markets. Due to continued growth and increased trading activity, they are looking to appoint a highly skilled Senior Credit Analyst to join their established credit risk function in Düsseldorf.

The Opportunity

This is a key hire within the business, offering the opportunity to work closely with front-office trading teams and senior stakeholders. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing counterparty risk and enabling profitable trading activity across oil markets, with a particular focus on the DACH region.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed credit assessments on a wide range of counterparties, including trading houses, refiners, and energy corporates
• Analyse financial statements, cash flow profiles, and market exposures to evaluate credit risk
• Recommend and manage credit limits aligned with internal risk frameworks
• Partner with trading, legal, and operations teams to structure and negotiate credit terms
• Monitor portfolio performance and identify early warning signs of credit deterioration
• Provide clear, well-supported credit recommendations to senior management
• Track market developments, geopolitical risks, and regulatory changes impacting the energy sector

Candidate Profile

• Fluent in German and English (both written and spoken)
• Proven experience (5–10+ years) in credit risk within oil trading, commodities, or broader energy markets
• Strong understanding of trade finance instruments (e.g., letters of credit, prepayments, collateral structures)
• Advanced financial analysis and risk assessment skills
• Confident stakeholder manager with the ability to influence front-office decision-making
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, commercially driven environment

Preferred Background

• Experience covering counterparties across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland
• Exposure to structured trade finance and commodity derivatives
• Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, or equivalent
