Senior Data Engineer / Ingenieur (Machine Learning Engineering)

We drive the Data & AI transformation of the BMW Group with innovative platforms, state-of-the-art cloud architecture, and excellent engineering. Additionally, you support the entire AI lifecycle – from data preparation through development and training to the productive operation of machine learning and generative AI solutions.
Furthermore, you work closely with data scientists, software engineers, and architects to design and implement APIs, services, and platform functionalities.
You also ensure the quality, stability, and security of the platform – including monitoring, observability, logging, compliance, and documentation.
Moreover, you engage in the BMW AI Community, share best practices, and promote a positive developer experience.
University degree in (business) computer science, mathematics, or a comparable qualification with a strong IT focus.
At least 5 years of experience in software or platform engineering, ideally in a cloud environment (AWS or Azure).
Experience in building and operating enterprise-wide AI or data platforms with a focus on scalability, performance, and user experience.
Practical experience in machine learning or generative AI (e.g., Jupyter, PyTorch, TensorFlow, SageMaker, LangChain, Haystack) together with knowledge in modern programming languages (Python, Java, or Go) and API technologies.
Deep understanding of IT security, data protection, and compliance requirements.
Very good English skills; German skills are an advantage.
