Mission Brief
As a senior design engineer within the system integration team , you will be at the heart of product design efforts across Isar Aerospace. You will follow hardware from its early conception to its integration into the final product, providing your expertise throughout the process. Additionally, you will work closely with a passionate team and other motivated colleagues across departments, playing a crucial role in designing and building our orbital launch vehicle.
Your Role in Our Space Mission:
- Product requirement & verification definition efforts
- Hardware design and development from concept to manufacturing drawings
- Integration of designs into global assemblies
- Maintenance & improvement of design and production engineering processes
- Providing guidance for fluid hardware and secondary structures design, including defining standards, reviewing designs, and manufacturing drawings
- Preparing detailed product development roadmaps and maintaining timelines
- Communicating with stakeholders to ensure efficient product development
- Managing interfaces and preparing design reviews, risk assessments, and trade-off studies
- Implementing and maintaining engineering change requests
- Serving as the company focal point for external suppliers
- Mentoring and providing technical guidance within the team
Qualification Checklist
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering or similar
- 8+ years of experience in hardware design and development
- Proficiency with design tools such as NX, TeamCenter, SolidWorks, or similar
- Experience with PLM and PDM systems
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods (milling, turning, sheet metal, composites, additive manufacturing)
- Familiarity with standards (DIN, EN, ISO, etc.)
- Strong understanding of GD&T
- Results-oriented with good planning skills
- Resilient, self-motivated, and able to work under pressure
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Fluent in English
Bonus Skills
- Experience in launch vehicle design, manufacturing, or assembly
- Experience with aerospace hydraulic systems
- Knowledge of fabrication, integration, and quality control for tubes, piping, and machined parts
- System architecture design experience
- Hands-on hardware production or assembly experience
- Knowledge of material properties and surface treatments
- Proficient in German
- Lean production knowledge
