NUVIEW is building the world's first commercial LiDAR satellite constellation to map Earth's entire land surface in 3D. Backed by venture capital and led by a team with deep Earth observation expertise, we're now expanding into lunar mapping through an ESA-sponsored mission. Our new Berlin office is where the payload gets built—and we're assembling a world‑class engineering team to make it happen.

The Role

We're looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical, power, and avionics development of our space LiDAR system. You'll work with a multidisciplinary team spanning Berlin and the United States to develop new and adapt proven LEO LiDAR designs for deep‑space lunar operations. This role covers the full mission lifecycle, from preliminary design through detailed design, AIT, and flight, giving you end‑to‑end ownership of critical payload subsystems.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the development of electrical, data, and power systems for a space LiDAR payload.
• Adapt existing LEO LiDAR electrical designs for lunar/deep‑space applications in collaboration with U.S.-based engineers.
• Work with FPGA-based implementations and peripherals, including DDR, Flash, EEPROM, ADCs, DACs, and transceivers.
• Develop the LiDAR timing system to synchronize laser pulses with the camera.
• Develop on‑board timing systems for UTC synchronization.
• Design and build the payload avionics and power regulation/distribution system.
• Collaborate with laser manufacturers to ensure the payload laser meets all system requirements.
• Lead build and test of the LiDAR flatsat and support flight hardware build and test.
• Analyze circuit tolerances using hand calculations and SPICE tools.
• Develop requirements, generate test plans and reports, and produce material for design reviews (PDR, CDR, MRR, FRR).
• Lead or assist in failure investigations using structured tools (8D, Fishbone, Cause & Effect).
• Contribute to ICDs, design descriptions, testing procedures, and RFP inputs.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 7+ years of relevant experience, OR a Master's/Ph.D. with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in electrical design for space applications and space qualification campaigns.
• Strong background in data and power systems for spacecraft or payloads.
• Experience in generating system-level requirements and translating them into design specifications.
• Proficiency in low-voltage power electronics, high-reliability connectors, high-speed signals, and high-current power delivery.
• Experience with command and data handling (C&DH) architectures and common spacecraft electrical interfaces.
• Knowledge of grounding architectures and EMC/EMI assessments.

Nice to Have

• Experience with lasers and/or radiation analysis.
• Experience with sensors and board design.
• Digital and analog circuit card assembly (CCA) design and development.

Requirements

• Work Authorization: You must hold valid work authorization for Germany at the time of application. NUVIEW is unable to sponsor work permits for these positions.
• On‑Site: This is a full‑time, on‑site role at our Berlin office. Remote or hybrid arrangements are not available.
• Language: Professional English proficiency (C1 or higher) is required. All engineering work and documentation is conducted in English.
• Schedule: Full‑time, 40 hours per week.
