About the Role

We are supporting one of our clients in Munich who are expanding their R&D team working on robotics and ADAS-related embedded systems. This role sits at the intersection of embedded software, robotics middleware, and automotive autonomy, focusing on real-world system integration rather than pure research.

You will work onsite with cross-functional engineering teams, contributing to the development, integration, and optimisation of embedded software stacks for autonomous and driver‑assistance systems.

This is a hands‑on role suited to engineers who are comfortable working close to hardware, sensors, and real‑time constraints.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded software in C++ (and Python where appropriate) for robotics and ADAS systems
• Develop and integrate ROS / ROS2‑based software components for autonomous and semi‑autonomous applications
• Integrate and interface with sensors such as radar, cameras, LiDAR, and IMUs
• Work on sensor calibration, synchronisation, and sensor fusion pipelines
• Implement and debug real‑time, multi‑threaded embedded systems
• Support communication between ECUs, sensors, and compute units using CAN, Ethernet, UDP/TCP
• Perform in‑depth debugging, profiling, and performance optimisation on embedded Linux or RTOS environments
• Collaborate closely with hardware, system, and validation teams during development and testing
• Contribute to system‑level testing, documentation, and technical discussions

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar
• 5+ years of professional experience in embedded software, robotics, or automotive systems
• Strong hands‑on experience with C++ in embedded or performance‑critical environments
• Practical experience with ROS or ROS2 beyond academic or hobby projects
• Experience working with automotive or robotics sensors (radar, camera, LiDAR, IMU)
• Solid understanding of real‑time systems, multi‑threading, and system debugging
• Familiarity with CAN, Ethernet, and networking protocols
• Ability to work onsite in Munich for the duration of the contract
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently

Nice to Have

• ADAS feature experience (e.g. AEB, ACC, perception or sensor pipelines)
• Radar or perception‑focused development experience
• Experience deploying systems into real vehicles or robots
