We are an independent, global, one‑stop‑shop focused on delivering Central Laboratory Services that are tailor‑made, timely and flexible to meet the evolving study demands of traditional to increasingly complex trials. Additionally, we provide Functional Service Provider (FSP) Solutions, supporting our clients with scientific and technical expertise, acting as an extension of their team, coordinating all laboratory related needs, advising on strategies for lab data collection and providing end‑to‑end analytical and logistical solutions.
The Senior Human Resources Generalist serves as a key HR partner supporting employees and managers across Germany and select EMEA and APAC locations within a global central laboratory organization. This role emphasizes hands‑on HR delivery across the full employee lifecycle, including employee relations, payroll support, and day‑to‑day HR operations, while also providing guidance to managers on HR‑related matters.
Working in close collaboration with global HR shared services, the Senior HR Generalist ensures accurate and compliant execution of HR processes, supports local business needs, and helps implement regional and global HR initiatives in alignment with company policies and local employment laws and regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Execute day‑to‑day HR operations across the employee lifecycle, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Collaborate with HR shared services teams to ensure timely and accurate HR service delivery.
- Support payroll processes for EMEA and APAC, including review and validation of payroll inputs (e.g., compensation changes, bonuses, time and attendance, leave data).
- Partner with payroll providers and HR shared services to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate payroll processing.
- Support employee data change processes by ensuring HR Shared Services has the necessary and accurate information for hires, terminations, promotions, and contract updates; step in as backup as needed to help resolve issues.
- Support the global benefits team, which administers leave of absence processes, time tracking, and benefits‑related activities in accordance with local requirements.
- Act as a first point of contact for employees and managers on HR‑related questions, policies, and procedures.
- Provide practical guidance to managers on employee relations matters, including performance management, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution while ensuring compliance with local labor laws.
- Support and conduct employee investigations, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to applicable labor law.
- Escalate complex or high‑risk employee relations cases to HR leadership or legal as appropriate.
- Partner with hiring managers and talent acquisition teams to support recruitment activities, including job postings, interview coordination, and onboarding.
- Ensure a smooth onboarding and offboarding experience for employees in Germany.
- Assist in implementing performance management and talent development processes at the local level.
- Ensure compliance with German and other applicable labor laws and company policies.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining HR documentation, including employment contracts, amendments, and disciplinary records.
- Support audits and ensure proper record keeping in line with internal and external requirements.
- Maintain data integrity in HR systems and support reporting and workforce analytics as needed.
- Contribute to the implementation of global HR programs, ensuring effective local execution.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, or related field required.
- Minimum 4–7 years of progressive HR experience, including HR generalist or HR business partner roles.
- Experience supporting multinational or EMEA‑based teams preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing, laboratory services, life sciences, or regulated environments preferred.
- Knowledge of German labor law (Arbeitsrecht) strongly preferred.
Skills and Ability
- Fluency in German and English required, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices and employment law.
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict‑resolution skills.
- Ability to build trust and influence stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience working within global HR shared service models preferred.
- High level of discretion when handling confidential employee information and experience applying GDPR.
- Ability to operate strategically while executing hands‑on HR tasks, balancing advisory responsibilities with operational follow‑through.
