(Senior) Java Engineer (m/f/d) - Life Sciences

On behalf of our partner adesso , we at Iconic Heads are looking for a Java Engineer / Consultant (m/f/d) with strong client-facing skills.

adesso is currently building a new Life Sciences Consulting unit – a startup within the company, combining entrepreneurial freedom with the stability of a leading IT provider. The team delivers secure, validated, and scalable software solutions for the pharmaceutical industry . By joining now, you can actively shape the foundation and culture of this new practice.

Your Responsibilities

Design & develop: Build Java-based applications (Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs) tailored to Pharma and regulated industry needs.

Consult & advise: Translate client requirements into technical solutions, run workshops, and support decision-making at business–IT interfaces.

Ensure compliance: Deliver validated, audit-ready software aligned with GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, and industry quality standards .

Integrate & optimize: Connect enterprise systems (e.g., LIMS, MES, ERP) and enable secure data flows in complex IT landscapes.

Shape the unit: Contribute your ideas and methods to establish adesso’s new Life Sciences consulting practice.

• Several years of experience in Java development (Spring Boot, Microservices, REST, CI/CD, container/cloud environments).
• Strong consulting skills: requirements engineering, stakeholder communication, client workshops.
• Experience with Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe) and related tools (Jira/Confluence).
• Background in the pharmaceutical industry or another highly regulated sector (e.g., MedTech, Banking/Insurance, Automotive Safety, Energy).
• Fluent in English (C1) and German (B2).
