Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel (m / f / diverse) with expertise in antitrust law to join our dynamic legal team in Hannover, Germany. As a key member of our Central Law Department you will provide advice on all matters relevant to antitrust law within the Tire Group sector among others:
- Review, analyze, and negotiate contracts and agreements of all kinds (horizontal & vertical aspects) such as supplier contracts, license agreements, cooperation agreements, terms & conditions
- Evaluate market dominance related market behavior
- Structure meetings with competitors
- Evaluate association activities
- Support in structuring M&A activities including merger control filings
- Support cartel litigation including follow‑on claims
- Support antitrust investigations
- Represent Continental in antitrust‑relevant panels, roundtables, task forces, etc.
- Elaborate and implement standards with respect to all types of contracts and any other topic addressed above impacting antitrust matters
- Communicate with antitrust authorities
- Collaborate with stakeholders inside and outside the Global Law Department with respect to antitrust matters
- Collaborate with the compliance department to foster comprehensive coverage of all antitrust‑related activities of Continental
- Select, manage, evaluate and steer external antitrust counsel and spend
- Participate in regular legal and business meetings to review and stay apprised of pending and upcoming projects with antitrust relevance
- Understand the legal landscape of antitrust and monitor and report on changes and trends
Qualifications
Fully qualified lawyer (m / f / diverse) with bar admission or comparable qualification
- Experience as a fully qualified lawyer in a law firm, corporation or both
- Several years of practical experience with antitrust matters (horizontal & vertical aspects, market dominance, cartel litigation, antitrust investigations, training in antitrust matters, antitrust due diligence)
- Experience in the tire industry is a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex matters clearly and professionally. Strong negotiation skills and intercultural competence.
- Business fluent German and English language skills (written and spoken); additional language skills are an advantage.
- Demonstrated excellent legal knowledge in antitrust matters; sound knowledge in related legal matters such as M&A, IP, commercial law, etc.
- Deep understanding of the business products and markets and sound strategic thinking with outstanding organizational and analytical skills for detailed and results‑oriented solutions.
- Strong team player with willingness and ability to work in an international environment.
- Willingness to travel when required.
