Senior Legal Counsel - Banking (m/f/d)

We are hiring for a leading European regulated bank, that are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel (Product & Commercial) to join their team in Berlin.

You’ll take ownership of legal risk across multiple product areas, guiding the business through complex regulatory frameworks and ensuring compliance while enabling growth.

Tasks

• Guide stakeholders on banking law, regulatory compliance, payments, lending, and consumer protection
• Shape and refine contractual frameworks, from term sheets to full agreements
• Draft, negotiate, and review a variety of commercial and regulatory contracts
• Deliver clear, actionable legal opinions to support business decisions
• Coordinate and manage external counsel to ensure efficient, high-quality advice
• Oversee the end-to‑end contract management process to keep operations running smoothly

Requirements

• Fully qualified German lawyer (First and Second State Examinations)
• 2+ years’ post‑qualification experience in banking, finance, or capital markets law (in‑house or law firm)
• Sharp analytical thinking with the ability to simplify complex regulation
• Commercially minded – able to balance compliance with business goals
• Skilled at building trust with senior stakeholders
• Collaborative, solutions‑driven mindset with an agile approach to work
