Senior Opto-Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Opto-Mechanical Design Engineer to join an advanced engineering team in the greater Munich area. This role focuses on the design and development of high-precision opto-mechanical systems used in demanding, high-power environments. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to take products from concept through to prototype and production.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop precision opto-mechanical assemblies and systems
• Work on high-average power systems (>10 kW) operating in harsh or challenging environments
• Design and implement optical fiber mounting and integration solutions
• Produce detailed 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and technical documentation
• Perform FEM analysis to validate thermal and mechanical performance
• Apply design-for-manufacturing (DFM) principles to ensure robust, scalable designs
• Build, test, and refine prototypes, supporting hands-on experimental work

Required Skills & Experience

• Previous experience working with high-power systems (>10 kW)
• Strong background in CAD, FEM, and mechanical analysis
• Experience with optical fiber mounting and alignment
• Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and experimental setups
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and tolerances
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
