Senior Project Manager, CMC Vendor Management (m/w/d)

Founded in 2020, mbiomics GmbH aims to revolutionize the treatment of diseases through innovative microbiome-based therapeutics. Our holistic TechBio platform combines proprietary analytics and cutting-edge data science to push the boundaries of live bacterial product (LBP) development.

Mbiomics is looking for motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join our dynamic Operations Team as a CMC Vendor Project Manager. In this role you will own the day-to-day management of CMC vendor relationships and associated contracts, ensuring external partners deliver on time, on budget, and to quality standards. This is a hands‑on execution role responsible for driving CMC outsourcing activities from vendor selection through delivery, working closely with internal scientific staff to ensure technical requirements are met and program timelines are achieved.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Serve as primary point of contact for CMC vendors (CDMOs, analytical testing labs, etc.)
• Build and maintain productive working relationships with vendor project managers and key contacts
• Attend regular vendor meetings to review progress, address issues, and align on priorities
• Monitor vendor performance against KPIs and contractual commitments
• Escalate vendor performance issues, flag risks, and timeline impacts proactively

Contract & Project Management

• Manage CMC outsourcing projects from initiation through completion, ensuring deliverables meet quality, timeline, and budget requirements
• Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and risk registers for CMC vendor activities
• Track contract milestones, deliverables, and payment schedulesCoordinate contract amendments, change orders, and scope modifications with legal and finance
• Maintain accurate documentation of all vendor interactions, decisions, and deliverables
• Maintain CMC vendor tracker and contract database

Cross-functional Coordination

• Work closely with CMC scientists to translate technical requirements into vendor deliverables
• Facilitate communication between internal teams and external vendors
• Ensure CMC vendor timelines are integrated into overall program plans
• Participate in cross-functional meetings to provide CMC vendor status updates

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in life sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, or related field
• 5+ years of project management experience in a pharmaceutical, biotech, or CDMO environment
• Demonstrated experience managing external vendors
• Experience with GMP, QA and regulatory guidelines at different stages of drug development and manufacturing
• Strong project management skills including planning, risk management, and issue resolution
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

PREFERRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

• PhD degree in pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, or related field
• Understanding of CMC activities in drug development (drug substance, drug product, analytical, stability)
• Proficiency with project management and productivity tools (e.g., Asana, Notion, Excel, Confluence)
• Familiarity with IND/CTA submission requirements for CMC sections
