Senior Project Manager (m/f/d) – European Space Programs

This position is aimed at candidates with more than 8 years of professional experience.

The salary range, depending on experience, is between €90,000 and €115,000 gross per year.

Work model: Full-time, on-site.

Muxon is a small, globally active recruitment agency and is conducting this search on behalf of our partner, an established European aerospace company headquartered near Munich (North). Operating at the forefront of ESA and EU-funded programs, the organization plays a key role in strengthening Europe’s strategic independence in space through innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale ESA/EU-funded space projects
• Manage budgets, timelines, resources, and milestone achievement
• Coordinate multidisciplinary and multicultural teams across engineering, science, and policy domains
• Ensure compliance with ESA, EUSPA, EU regulations, and export-control requirements
• Conduct risk management and performance tracking to secure short- and long-term objectives
• Own customer and stakeholder relationships across Europe
• Provide strategic leadership aligned with company and EU space policy goals

Qualifications

• 8+ years of project management experience within the European space sector
• Proven track record leading large-scale ESA/EU-funded programs (e.g., Galileo, Copernicus, Horizon Europe)
• Demonstrated ownership of complex projects, including coordination of ESA and external stakeholders
• Strong knowledge of ESA, EUSPA, EU regulatory frameworks and grant funding mechanisms
• Experience with export control regulations
• Excellent English skills; German is a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard project management tools
• Outstanding leadership, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills
• PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent certification is highly desirable
• Background in systems engineering, satellite technology, or space infrastructure is a strong advantage
